GW sponsors more than 300 international scholars each year. These include researchers, visiting faculty, short-term scholars and individuals interested in exploring our archival resources. The University’s many permanent faculty members from other countries add international experience and perspectives to all disciplines. We encourage our visiting scholars to use GW’s libraries, interact and engage with our extensive and talented faculty, and participate in special lectures, conferences and symposia.
Visiting faculty begin their contact through the appropriate dean or school. Once established on campus, scholars may contact the International Programs Office for academic and partnership inquiries or the International Services Office for extra support in navigating campus resources and the city. The staff at GW’s International Services Office assist international visitors with their arrival, orientation and acclimation to the University and offer a variety of programs and services to help scholars and their families become important and valued members of the GW community. In addition, they administer the immigration sponsorship required for international scholars to teach, perform research, consult with colleagues, share specialized knowledge and participate in professional development activities at GW.
