GW supports and encourages international study, work, and research as essential parts of its academic mission. To help ensure a positive international experience, the university maintains sound practices and policies for GW-sponsored or -funded travel, work, study, and residence outside of the United States. These practices and policies help us address health and safety concerns abroad, such as access to medical care and emergency evacuation services.

For students traveling on a GW program, required travel procedures are built into the online application administered by the Office for Study Abroad or sponsoring graduate school.  Students traveling for fellowships, internships, or other independent study are required to apply and register for their travel through the International Travel Proposal process.  Separate guidelines apply to GW faculty and staff who are either leading students abroad or traveling alone.
